Features and characters of the individual

This tree is the largest aspen tree listed in the Inventory of Remarkable Trees of the Region. Poplars of this species and, above all, of this size, are rare in Brussels. The "tremble" is well named. Among all the poplars, and perhaps even among all the trees of our region, he is the first to get agitated at the slightest breeze. All its leaves begin to dance at the end of their long petioles. Under the summer sun its foliage shimmers in the wind, while in autumn its bright yellow leaves glisten like fire.

Twinning

This tree has been paired with a Bois de Vincennes tree, which grows in the gardens of the Ecole du Breuil (Ecole d'Horticulture de Paris). This twinning took place during the 2019 Arts Science Biennale, during a day of conferences on the theme of Plant Intelligence to which Wood Wide Web was invited.
