Features and characters of the individual

This Virginia tulip tree was noticed by the group from the "culture" workshop at the Facere Centre next to the Erasmus Hospital in Anderlecht. In recent months, the group has put trees at the heart of its activities:

"We have chosen to introduce you to one of the trees in our garden: a Virginia tulip tree.

It was planted during the first Directorate, by our former director Mrs. Noldé. The planting took place, approximately, according to our research, in the early 2000s. It was our educator from the gardening workshop at the time, Danièle, who went to get the young tree. It was planted on a rainy day, with the help of three educators to hold it and backfill the soil.

As our participant Annette points out: "Residents like to stroll around him, gather together under his foliage. When it dresses in its autumn colours, it has an extraordinary beauty. I find that its leaves are tulip-shaped and it provides us with wonderful moments. Circular stone benches and a round table have been installed to enjoy our beautiful summer moments near him. This place allows us to meet personally with our educators to talk about our moods, our projects and our little joys..."

For another of our residents, Gaëtan: "I appreciate going under the tulip tree with friends who come to say hello. I like it when my visitors play the guitar for me!»

Denise would like to add that with the "photos" workshop, she likes to settle down, exchange and even take pictures of what is happening around the tree. Sometimes after that, she falls asleep!

Another resident of the Centre, Nathalie takes advantage of the small platform under the tulip tree to take breaks during the painting workshop. "I like to go and breathe by the tree, it gives me ideas to continue my painting in class. I also take the opportunity to observe nature and be inspired by it while breathing. Some Fridays, when I'm alone with an educator in the games workshop and the weather is nice, we'll sit down and play a game of scrabble on my tablet."

Since the summer of 2017, we have been organizing "musical naps" or "tea-dances" sessions, with the old turntables and vinyl records collected by the Day Centre's radio workshop, "Comme sur les roulettes!
